Imagine a time when the sea was full of monsters. Back in the 1600s, explorers and naturalists thought they saw all kinds of things in the ocean: some were accurate, others were fantastically weird and scary.

The way things are going, I’ll have to add a new category to this blog… sea creatures. Researchers in Australia have been watching octopuses (or is it octopi?) pick up coconut shells, then gallop away with them using all eight arms as legs. Catch the coconut toting octopi on video here. (via Beth)
