Sea monsters!

Imagine a time when the sea was full of monsters. Back in the 1600s, explorers and naturalists thought they saw all kinds of things in the ocean: some were accurate, others were fantastically weird and scary.

Brooklynology: Photos, ephemera, obsessions…

I don’t want to seem like one of those Brooklyn-o-philes. Those people you know who can’t stop talking about all the cool things they did in Williamsburg.

Which is why I fell hard in love with this blog: Brooklynology. Every post is a minutely researched tribute to history, ephemera, and other wonderful things buried in the Brooklyn Public Library’s various collections.
